What’s Your biggest coaching challenge?
Although business leaders and sales managers may never have to land a plane, they will be confronted with unusual testing times when coaching staff.
If we could model all coaching interactions on this example of an air traffic controller coaching a student to land the plane during his first lesson after his instructor falls unconscious, our staff would be in incredible shape.

What I love hearing is;
The instructor is in the moment: talking calmly, steady voice, low tone, attention nowhere else.
Responding with positive reinforcement: he listens to the student and hears the nervousness in his voice. There is reinforcement, in detail, of what is going right.
We are in this together: he says, "the first thing we are going to do." Emphasizing that the student is not alone. I'm by your side.
The next steps: provide clear and concise detail on what will happen next. There are no surprises, just certainty. That builds confidence.
And, of course, "You've got this!"
I believe in you. Isn't that something we all love to hear?
These classic coaching techniques are not just for coaching situations.
You can use them to significant effect every day.
